Holy Eucharist – 21st Sunday after Pentecost

Welcome to Worship for this Twenty-First Sunday after Pentecost, October 25th, 2020.

We are happy you have joined us, whether you were here in person or continue to join us virtually, YOU ARE WELCOME HERE!

Our readings for today are: Leviticus 19:1-2, 15-18; Psalm 1; 1 Thessalonians 2:1-8; Matthew 22: 34-46

The portion of Leviticus in the Old Testament is referred to as the Levitical Holiness Code. It teaches love of neighbour and love of God. Love of neighbour rests upon and expresses love of God, which in turn is possible because God has chosen – and thereby expressed God’s love for – his faithful people. The first of the Psalms includes unforgettable images which contrast the lives of the righteous and the wicked. In his letter to the ancient church in Thessalonica, Paul reflects on his missionary preaching, giving us a profile of exemplary ministerial service. In the Gospel story we hear Jesus’ teaching about the two great commandments of loving God and neighbour.
