Outreach Ministry
Working upstream of poverty
We are proud to present our outreach ministry. It has been part of this parish since the earliest days of the church, and it remains a central part of our life together today.
Our focus is upstream. Rather than responding only to hardship once it arrives, we support work that addresses the conditions leading to poverty and vulnerable circumstances — food security, education, care for the land, and support for families in their earliest years.
We welcome all, and we accept new members at any time.

Who we support
In 2026 our giving went to three organizations. Each of them works close to the ground, with people they know.
Whitefish Falls, ON · Est. 1950s
Camp Manitou, Bay of Islands
Camp Manitou is a volunteer-run, non-profit summer camp on the north shore of Lake Huron, 12 km west of Whitefish Falls. It runs affordable youth programs — leadership camps, nature camps, and family camp — and offers subsidized places to families whose economic circumstances would otherwise put camp out of reach. Its mission includes caring for the land it sits on.
Founded in the late 1950s under the Anglican Diocese of Algoma as a youth retreat centre, the camp became independent in the early 2000s and was incorporated as a charitable non-profit on November 7, 2008. It is a member of the Ontario Camping Association, which accredits camps through regular inspection.
Our part
For twenty years our outreach committee has sponsored children and families to attend camp each summer. For the past two years we have also supported the restoration of Voyageur House.
Canada-wide · Since 1959
Alongside Hope
Alongside Hope, formerly the world relief fund, is a faith-based organization that has connected Anglicans across Canada with people in need since 1959. It works through trusted local partners rather than on its own, which makes it part of a larger and more effective network. Its work improves food security, champions Indigenous rights, and creates lasting economic opportunity through training in conservation agriculture. In 2025 it launched a new international partnership initiative to widen that reach.
Its current work includes humanitarian support in Gaza through the Diocese of Jerusalem’s Middle East relief initiative, and emergency assistance in northwestern Ontario.
Our part
In 2026 we gave to Northwest fire relief and to St Luke’s Hospital.

Sudbury
Better Beginnings Better Futures
Better Beginnings Better Futures works with children and families in Sudbury during the years that shape everything after them. Its programs cover nutrition, early literacy, parenting support, and neighbourhood activities that give families a place to belong.
This is upstream work by definition: support offered early, close to home, before small difficulties compound into large ones. It is why the organization sits alongside our other partners.
Our part
We give because we believe in this work. A child’s first years are the most hopeful place to put our money, and here it stays in Sudbury — in our own neighbourhoods, with our own neighbours.
