Twelfth Sunday after Pentecost (VIDEO)

Welcome to Worship for this Twelfth Sunday after Pentecost, August 23, 2020. We are happy you have joined us, we so appreciate your likes, comments and encouragement as we bring these services to you each week.

Our readings for today are: Exodus 1:8-2:10; Psalm 124; Romans 12:1-8; Matthew 16:13-20

The Old Testament story from Exodus now shifts to Moses. It sets the scene by characterizing the Egyptian oppression of the Israelite people and tells of the birth of Moses. The psalm is a corporate thanksgiving song, an appropriate response to the anticipated deliverance from Egypt. In Paul’s Letter to the ancient church in Rome, he calls members of the Church to offer ourselves as renewed, transformed beings through the new life and glory that is in God. The Gospel story from Matthew takes place at Caesarea Philippi, where Jesus identifies Peter as the rock upon which Jesus will establish the church.
