Dear Epiphany Friends;
As you know, Bishop Tom Corston has been appointed the part time interim incumbent of the Church of the Epiphany beginning in September 2016. +Tom’s ministry in the parish will provide ongoing stability during the fall and winter months and will be re-evaluated at the end of April 2017. The appointment comes with the approval and support of Bishop Stephen Andrews and the wardens of the parish. We are very grateful to +Tom for offering himself for this ministry knowing that he continues to have responsibilities in the Diocese of Moosonee. Thank you +Tom!
Prior to his departure Bishop Stephen issued Bishop Tom a licence to act as the interim priest at the Epiphany. There is a short service of installation which will take place during the 9:30am service on August 14th, 2016. I will celebrate the Eucharist and install Bishop Tom into this new position on that date, and I look forward to seeing many of you there to offer your prayerful support of both +Tom and the parish during this interim period.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the wardens and other parish leaders for the excellent leadership they are providing at this time. There are many things that are happening in the parish and you have dedicated wardens and council members who are quietly working behind the scenes to ensure the smooth running of the parish.
Thanks to the local deanery and diocesan clergy, summer services and pastoral care visits are ongoing.
At this time I would ask you to keep the parish, deanery and diocese in your prayers. This is a time of change and transition, as we bid farewell to Bishop Stephen and Fawna and approach the election of a new Bishop of Algoma. Keep the Administrator, Archdeacon Harry Huskins and the Territorial Archdeacons in your prayers too, as they work together to ensure the smooth running of the Diocese.
