THE ROAD AHEAD: - A PLANNING PROCESS

There are 37 individual initiatives described in this Report. Some of them are already in progress. Many are new. All of them will require dedicated staff, volunteers and in some cases, external professional support. We recommend the following:

  • An assistant the Rector is required. This could take many forms. It could be a Curate or a lay Pastor. The work of this individual could include;
  • coordinating the work of the various Commissions and/or supervising the youth and young adult ministries. In any event, if “The Road Ahead” is to be a positive and successful one, it must include a plan for some assistance for the Rector. This could begin with a shared position with another parish, but if the plan succeeds in growing the Parish, it will quickly become a full time requirement.
  • A facilitator will be initially required. They would help Commissions begin their work, by prioritizing their activities and obtaining the resources and empowerment necessary to succeed. They could also provide training in small group skills and decision making.
  • It will be necessary to purchase some new computer technology and it will also be necessary to purchase outreach material for the various initiatives in this Plan.
  • There will be an urgent need for more volunteers. This should be viewed as a positive resource, to encourage more people to take an active and rewarding role in their Church.
